Gracemarch

The urban fantasy world of Gracemarch, now explored in depth on Gracemarch: The Blog, began as a compelling script penned in 2017 by JJ Barnes and Jonathan McKinney of Siren Stories for Artisan Films. This initial fifteen-minute short quickly attracted the attention of renowned actors Ross O’Hennessy (Game Of Thrones) and Virginia Hey (Farscape), leading to a commission for the writing team to develop their short into a full-length feature film.

The first collaboration between Siren Stories and Artisan Films saw Gracemarch move into production in 2018, with producer Cliff Thomas and a talented cast joining the project. However, the unforeseen impact of the Covid-19 pandemic severely disrupted the entertainment industry, forcing the production to halt with an uncertain future.

Undeterred, author JJ Barnes has since masterfully adapted the film script into a complete novel, and Gracemarch is now available for readers who crave dark, urban fantasy narratives and stories of strong female characters.

Gracemarch OUT NOW

Jane Waters leads an ordinary life as a waitress, her boyfriend seemingly indifferent. Her sister, Cassie Waters, a successful horror writer, lives a glamorous, globetrotting existence, often too preoccupied for Jane’s everyday concerns. Worlds apart, the two sisters are unaware of a long-held family secret poised to surface.

The unexpected death of their mother forces Jane and Cassie back into each other’s lives. As they navigate the mysteries held within their childhood home, the sisters are compelled to confront the tragic memory of their younger sister, Susie, who died in their youth.

Haunted by Susie’s memory, Jane and Cassie remain oblivious to the shadowy organization monitoring their every move and the powerful figures closing in.

What secrets did their mother conceal? How are Jane and Cassie’s lives about to be irrevocably changed? And what truly happened to Susie?

The Future Of Gracemarch

Their ultimate goal remains to secure the necessary funding to complete the film production and bring the world of Gracemarch to the big screen. Stay tuned to the blog for updates on both the novel and the potential film’s progress!
